This season in Ginza and Yurakucho, Collarless coats and Chester coats have become fashionable outerwear items. However, something else that we have started to see a lot of is the ‘dressing gown coat’. There is a lot of variety in the design; being collarless, having a hood, being in a trench-coat style, etc. The standard colors are, of course, gray and black, but there are also trendy pastel options.
There are two ways to wear this look, open at the front or stylishly tied. It is both economic and practical. It looks cool worn open and gives off an elegant vibe worn closed. It has gained popularity among many women as you can achieve a variety of stylish looks with one garment. Also, due to the neat design around the neck, it can make anybody’s face look small and delicate. Additionally, the dressing gown coat’s tie belt compensates for the volume of the garment and creates shape.
The usually static world of outerwear is being reformed in 2019-20. Pretty, casual outerwear options will likely increase steadily from now on. It seems that the dressing gown coat will, despite being a newcomer, become a standard outerwear option in which to enjoy winter and add flair to the streets of Ginza.
