The staple fashion setup is undergoing a bit of change. You used to see a lot of Korean-cute setups on the street, but this season has seen the rise of a handsome suit look, or “suiting.” Suiting means using either suit materials or a suit, itself, as a part of your outfit, and is a formal style with a mannish mood and traditional element to it.
Having taken inspiration from the vintage boom circa 2017, recently we’ve seen an increase in single three-piece suits, double breasted jackets, and check-patterned retro-jackets. However, a lot of young people weren’t alive for much of the jacket style boom period, which has led to the look having a retro-fresh feeling to it, and thus the trend of suiting.
To make sure your outfit isn’t too formal, try combining it with a logo t-shirt underneath, wearing oversized jackets and pants, and create a modern twist with a bit of an effortless feel. Some breakout styles include dropping one shoulder lower to create an unbalanced flair, or tying off your jacket with a belt. I’m sure you’ll be seeing more casual-down, handsome mode suiting in 2020 and beyond.
