Tokyo Girls Collection (hereafter referred to as TGC) is a fashion event showcasing Japan's hottest ready-to-wear fashion trends. After a two-year's absence, the event was once again held at Yoyogi National Gymnasium, which is where it first began. The event featured some amazing collaborations that enhanced an already packed program and made for an awesome day. We took our usual snapshots of the visitors and picked out 48 fashionistas that stood out from the crowd. We've named them the TGC48. Last year we saw a lot of pastel colors, but this year a lot of people went for black, monotone looks & incorporated spring colors with statement pieces. Instead of the usual spring favorites of beige with polka dots & florals, the fashionistas leaned towards cooler & tougher looks, with a lot of black clothes with geometric patterns & striped pieces. The keyword for this particular snapshot collection is “caps”! In street fashion we regularly see people sporting baseball caps with logos of some kind, but the TGC48 went for caps with words like NY, BROOKLYN, TOKYO, YES, HELLO, etc, and it was so much fun to look at. (^^) I look forward to seeing what new trends will appear at the next TGC! Check out the snapshots and see how each person played with the season's hottest trends! I'll be posting a report on the event itself later so stayed tuned!
