LIFE STYLE INTERVIEW

Longing to be an actor, she left her hometown for Tokyo. Working at her beloved variety store, she continues to dream.

Short hair is the main point for the boyish style.

Embracing her dream of being an actor, short hair is the trademark for Rika, who works at the "CouCou" variety store in Daikanyama. While she previously had long, straight hair, when she started as a hair model her style gradually became shorter, and she realized that short hair had become her staple. As she changed her fashion from cute to boyish she also changed her hairstyle to match. Her style point is coordinates that match her hairdo. Especially after a hair show, she refrains from garish colors and elaborate forms, "because the beautician worked so hard on my hairdo", and she is aware of how clothes can easily draw attention away from hair.
Also, by adding points like bright colored skirts etc, she is particular about introducing a femininity to her boyish style.

Gaining experience working at a variety store!

Rika’s hometown is in Ishikawa Prefecture.
Since she had loved movies since she was in junior high school, and with her interest in working as an actor, when she was 21 she decided to join an entertainment agency and move to Tokyo. However, she was auditioning for commercials and such during the day and working part time at a family restaurant at night, as her reversed schedule continued she abruptly became fatigued.
Thinking that her top priority should be getting her health back, she took a temporary break from her agency and late night job, and while looking for daytime work she encountered the variety shop where she is now. "It's fun because I've always liked variety goods. I'm entrusted with setting up displays, and I have learned many things from the responses and conversations with customers who see them. I really feel good when I hear a customer say "how cute!"

From food to photography, English to travel, she has a wide range of interests!

Rika, who also enjoys food, attended cooking school in Osaka after graduating from High School and obtained her chef license. On days when she has time she enjoys cooking for herself, mainly Japanese food.
On days off she goes for walks by herself with her toy camera, digital camera and polaroid in hand.
The sky and scenery, portraits, etc, she takes pictures as the mood strikes her.
Also, she is interested in English and studies from books and the radio at her own pace. She is also planning to travel abroad, not just to see the fashion situation in other countries, but also to see for herself how other countries are dealing with poverty and environmental issues.
But, naturally her greatest interest is in being an actor. "I still haven't felt that I can stick out my chest and say 'I've made it!' in Tokyo at all. Now I'm looking for an agency and sending out resumes, I'm committed to doing everything I can to convince myself.
Her "earnestness" has begun.
